The Roe Family Singers were on fire as they tore through 'I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart' at the Cedar Cultural Center on March 18th, 2010. The listeners went wild hollering and shouting praise after each of Kim Roe's yodeling breaks. The band's crowd-pleasing performance set off rapturous applause, more than warming up the audience for the Del McCoury Band.

My brother and I were walking in Rome, when he stopped in amazement and pointed out the formation of giant starling clouds. Starlings sometimes have a peculiar flocking style at dusk. They form incredibly dense undulating clouds that seem to be creatures in-and-of themselves. The starling groups, which number in the hundred and thousands form jellyfish-like entities in the sky that solidify, elongate and merge in an ominous visual ballet of astonishing complexity. This occurs generally as the sun goes down for 10 to 15 minutes before the birds head to the trees to roost.

I was able to catch the beginning of the phenomena; however, the camera battery died just over 30 seconds in. The starlings intensified their action, forming even denser tighter tornado like formations and did this for about 15 minutes as dusk fell. Then we saw them slowly disperse until there remained ball-clusters of 50 starings or so that veered around and slowly dropped in until the birds reached their nightly roost in the trees.
