Amid a lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir following the centre's move to end the special status to the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the government would ensure that people didn't face any problem in celebrating Eid next week. "The government is ensuring that people in Jammu and Kashmir don't face any problem in celebrating Eid," PM Modi said in an address to the nation.

"The government is taking care that people should not have any problem in celebrating Eid in Jammu and Kashmir. Our companions who live outside Jammu and Kashmir and want to return to their homes on Eid, the government is helping them in all possible ways," said Mr Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in a special broadcast on national broadcaster All India Radio today.
